Description
These young plants took 5 months to grow from seed. They are perfect in a hanging basket and will produce small fruits all year. My local friend shared these rare red Alpines with me a few years ago. I like them as much as the white ones that I have been growing, though they taste completely different. The flavor is so intensely strawberry. I tried over wintering alpines in the ground but found they so much easier to grow in hanging baskets. In the heat of summer put them in the shade or a cool house. They do not make runners but can be divided every year as well as grown from the seed. There’s nothing like these berries as a garnish for your desserts, drinks or salads.
